Girls Aloud will climb to Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa

The Girls Aloud stars have elected to climb Africa’s highest mountain to reach Mount Kilimanjaro. They will climb for Red Nose Day for a grueling eight day reaching Kilimanjaro’s summit.

But the shared partner in a tent of Alesha Dixon, said they were not overly enthusiastic about the idea of camping.

Cheryl, 25 year old said “I can’t think of anything worse,” when asked if she was a keen camper and Kimberley, 27. We’re not like festival girls. We don’t do camping at all so that is a real personal challenge for us. I actually put myself forward for this so the rest of the girls were all like ‘what were you thinking’…but they’re all really supportive and will be going to rednoseday.com and supporting us and watching the climb and raising money for us, which is amazing.”

Cheryl and Kimberly will be joined by Alesha Dixon, Gary Barlow, Ben Shephard, Chris Moyles, Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outen and Ronan Keating to climb up hill and aired in the run up to Red Nose Day on March 13, 2009.

NASCAR changes rules in Camping World series

Camping World Truck Series facing the likelihood of short fields this season, NASCAR has amended its rulebook with changes intended to cut costs.

Teams will be allowed a maximum of 12 crew members at the track in 2009, and only five will be permitted to pit the truck. Crews also can’t add fuel and change tires on the same stop.

“The strategy is going to change a lot, because you’ll have to pit twice,” says Mike Hillman Jr., crew chief for Todd Bodine’s No. 30 Toyota. “It’ll be completely different, and there might be races where the best truck doesn’t win. But this is NASCAR’s way to limit travel costs and payroll to help us in the hard economic times, so you just adjust.”

To reduce motor budgets, teams also can’t compete in more than three consecutive races without using an engine from a previous race.

The Germain Racing Tundra driven by Bodine, the 2007 series champion, still is hunting for a primary sponsor, but Hillman expects to run a full season — one of about 15 teams expected to contest the full 25-race circuit that campaigns 36-truck fields. About a half-dozen teams have full-season sponsorship.

Pakistan Professional Race Car Driver:

A professional race car driver from Pakistan, Nur Ali, 34, is trying to leverage his ethnicity to overcome a weak economy. Ali, who is seeking funding for the full ARCA season and will race Saturday’s Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona, is focusing on attracting sponsorship from companies that sell products in convenience stories. Ali, an American citizen who left Pakistan as an infant and lives in Southlake, Texas, has a deal with a Budweiser distributor and wants to expand the relationship with Anheuser-Busch InBev.

“There’s a lot of people from India, Pakistan, Nepal and Korea who own convenience stores, and I speak their language, eat their food and listen to their music,” says Ali, whose father ran convenience stores after the family moved to the USA 25 years ago. “The guy behind the counter … is from my community, and if they’re on board, they’ll push that product. With Asian-Americans, I’m representing a consumer that doesn’t follow the sport, and I hope that’ll help us get to Sprint Cup by bringing in new fans.”

Ali often returned to Pakistan while racing for his home country in the A1GP Series from 2005-07. NASCAR Camping World Series
