Camping Trip during Black FridayCamping trip is part of the Bass Pro Shops effort to give shoppers an early on Black Friday shopping. Kelly and Warren Burchim of Venice Center have campout in the Alexandria Bay, Adirondacks, and Pennsylvania area but never in the parking lot. Warren Burchim said “We’ve camped out in the Adirondacks in October and woke up to four inches of snow in our tent and decided this (camping at Bass Pro Shops parking lot in Auburn) would be interesting”.

George Fiorille, a promotions manager at the Auburn location report to the media that Thanksgiving and getting ready for the Black Friday going out so we’re trying to get people in the good holiday spirit and do shopping. Camping is more about experience and makes people confident. Kelly Burchim said “Warren is the one that found it in the circular so it was his idea, but he didn’t have to do much nudging.”

Not all camper was staying overnight at the Bass Pro Shops. The visitors have a chance to win gift cards, $1,000 shopping spree and $5,000 gas card at the Bass Pro Shops.

Robert Sibley of Lodi said “This is a good store. Very good prices. I’ve been in that place and the best shop”. Mostly people sleeping outside Carousel Center on Thursday night, just waiting for the best deals.

Brave shoppers had camping trip
Some brave shoppers have other plans while getting ready for Thanksgiving, they had already camping out in the cold, outside Best Buy. After thanksgiving it’s in anticipating of Black Friday and considered to be start of the holiday camping season. Three shoppers in Jefferson City planned and have already set up camping trip outside Best Buy in Missouri Boulevard.
Leann Helling, 36 year old who wore a purple said “We’re getting a lot of looks from people, laughing and some people waving. A lot of people come up and ask ‘Why are you here?’ And I don’t know. For me it’s not unusual. This is what I planned to do a year ago when I saw people camped out.”
Helling and Diana her daughter starting setting up their blue tent and lawn chairs on Wednesday, two days before Black Friday. Helling said “Trying to get a good deal in this economy. If you can save a buck you’re gonna do it.” Helling said the economy is a big factor in bringing her out. For her and Steve, the second man in line it comes down to a new computer. She hopes to save $500 on a new Athlon desktop which is usually the cost for around $1200 bucks.
Helling said “This isn’t my first time camped out. Last night she was too late. This year I determined to get that computer but only a good price and its enough for my budget.” The last time Helling bought a computer or desktop was 10 years ago, that was 1998. Diana, her daughter who sat in a lawn chair bundled in a hot pink jacket and yellow blanket said “she’s excited to have a new computer and will use it for school.”
She said “I’ve camped in Colorado at 20 degrees in the snow on a mountain. This is not that bad.”
Best Buy is open at 5 a.m. Friday.

Camping trip using Treetent
London camper enjoy camping trip in the tree trunk. The Treetent, a cross between a tent and a tree house. It’s not quite the same as sleeping in a tree house. Dre Wapenaar, Dutch sculptor sees his creation more than just a novel of camping equipment or kit. A piece of art, he says. The tree tent is portable. Wapenaar in his over 20 years professional experience artist, but the inspiration for creating tents stretches remember to his childhood.
Wapenaar told to CNN “I started building them when I was a kid. We had a competition in the neighborhood to build the coolest tent”. Wapenaar graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg, Holland in 1986. He set up his own studio in Rotterdam the following year. He describes his sculptures as exploration of artistic on how groups of people and individual relate to one another.
He said that people from all over the world are coming to Holland and live, so you can make a new forms of living together. The tent is a nice metaphor. His first designed Treetent not for a campsite but for a group of UK environmental activists who were hoping to frustrate a road building program through protected Woodland. In his interest sculptures particularly the Treetent has kept on growing. Wapenaar selling a lot of Treetent camping equipment, he still receives hundreds of emails every year from people likely to buy his Treetent. But it is not a commercially available product, the price or cost of Treetent is 30,000 Euros.
His collection has grown into an elegant and diverse range of sculptures including kiosks, bivouacs, villages and pavilions. The Recital Pavilion in his most recent creation was unveiled at this year’s Poetry International Festival in Rotterdam and reinforces of Wapenaar’s commitment to explore human communication through his art.

Chester Girl Scouts at Chubb Park learn camping skills

Almost 70 Chester Girl Scouts joined a camping skills program on Oct 2, Thursday at Chubb Park. The event was held to welcome new Scouts and returning to mark more than 75 years of Chester Girl Scouts.

More various camping skill workshops that girls participated arranged by older Girl Scout troops. The workshops included how to prepare camp food, set up a tent, and designing a camp survival pack.

Canned food in Camping Trip

Ethan and Lou of I-95 FM radio’s morning show enjoyed camping in a parking lot part of this week in hope of filling a semi truck with food. The disc jockey began collecting cans for camping in the Berkshire Shopping Center parking lot in Newton Road. Collecting canned food, nonperishable items and cash donationsl.

Lou Milano said during a phone interview from the recreational vehicle in the parking lot “We’re off to a modest start, but we have really high expectations. This community has always been very generous, and we are hoping they come out to help us fill this truck.”

Milano said until Wednesday he will be at the RV at 3 p.m. Collecting food for the Community Center of Danbury, a non-profit organization that provides services for residents throughout the area. Milano said the donations will fill the shelves of CACD’s food banks so it can help needy people in the holiday season.

He said “We’ve gotten a great response from our listeners so far. For some people, it’s easier for them to give cash. We take the money and buy food at one of the local grocery stores.”

Taryn Donnarummo, Director of Marketing and Promotions for the radio station said it did a similar food drive about five or six years ago. She also said important items include canned vegetables, nonperishable foods, canned meats, stuffing, and just about for them to give cash. Buy food at one of the local grocery stores.
