Father and Son Missing After Colorado Camping Trip

Relatives of the doctor from Austin, Texas are asking for help to find him and his 13 year old son, who believe they are somewhere in the southern Colorado High County at CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colorado.

Robert Spitz, 50 year old and his son Caleb Spitz, 13 year old are both missing. Family member Bill Neuphaus of Houston said relatives haven’t heard from them after Colorado Camping Trip.

July 22, the father and son were last seen in Salida getting fishing licenses at the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation District Offices, said by Chaffee County authorities. Father and son told to park officials they were going fishing and camping for 3 - 4 days but they didn’t return after 4 days.

Neuhaus saw the father and son in Almosa a week ago, they are traveling in a White 2000 Chevy Coachman RV with Texas license plate 872-BTW.

No overnight camping in City Park during DNC

Mayor John Hickenlooper and the City of Denver announced that there will be no camping at night in City Park during the Democratic National Convention. City rules prohibit camping in the park and it will close at 11 p.m each night. Hickenlooper will turn on the sprinklers if people stay past the closing time.

The “Tent State University” group had received a permit to set up camp in the park. Almost 20,000 people will be there during the convention.

Carla Madison of the Denver City Council said “At this point, we’ve never let anybody camp in our parks including the Boy Scouts, so it’s nothing political, it’s just something the city doesn’t allow.”

Adam Jung of Tent State University said “we don’t want to see people sleeping in the neighborhoods. We don’t want to see people sleeping on the street.”

Camping on Highway to be Charged

Campers who have been camping next to the R28 in Randfontein, will be charged with go against, as of rules and laws the National Road Traffic Act. This is according to Jorrie Jordaan, a Director of Public Safety in the West Rand District Municipality.

A lot of foreign nationals are being removed where they have been sleeping in the road for the past five days. Officials are helping them load their belongings into police trucks.

The United Nation High Commission for Refugees says over 600 foreign nationals willing to be repatriated to their home countries (where they from). More than 10 families, mostly Congolese and Burundian, have registered for voluntary repatriation.

Hundreds of foreign nationals are currently being removed from the side of the road

Two hikers found by rescuers from camping trip

Two hikers have been found unhurt northwest of Nederland, Colorado who were overdue returning from an overnight camping trip.

Patrick Nelson and Sean Klomparens, a Boulder County sheriff’s officials set out Saturday with plans to climb South Arapahoe Peak and they expected to return to Nelson’s parents home in Windsor by 5 p.m. Sunday.

Patrick Nelson of Cedar, Rapids, 21 year old; Sean Klomparens of Rockville, Maryland, 20 year old; They got lost and went off their planned route in their camping trip. They found by Rocky Mountain Rescue group in near of Goose Lake.

2010 more adventure camping sites in NCR

NCR planned to build up five adventure camping sites in the next two (2) years. The four of them will be located in the NCR cities of Haryana - Surajkund, Dharuhera, Hodal and Damdama in New Delhi. The campers won’t have to travel all the way to Rishikesh or Manali with the Haryana Tourism setting up five camping sites around the Capital.

Mr. Kiran Choudhry, Haryana tourism minister said that the Central tourism ministry has already planned and issued guidelines for setting up of camping sites escpially the accommodation (quality and standards). Haryana government was working and coordinate with the Centre and adventure tour operators association to finalize the project for more camping sites. The target is to attract more tourists, and work at camping sites at Surajkund, Hodal, Dharuhera and Morni.

Central government provide funds for Damdama camping site (had used camping sites over the years). It would provide basic infrastructure around the camping site include electricity, connectivity, public toilets, tourist reception facilities and parking grounds. State government’s tourism policy has provision for short term and long term policy to private players and accordingly some of camping sites would be leased in Public Private Partnership (PPP) to provide basic facilities to tourists.

Haryana government looking a huge number of adventure campers during Games when the entire NCR to witness huge tourist inflow. They provide unique facility to tourists would be big business since even the sports persons coming from different countries. Senior Tourism Department Official said “But in case they don’t want to cover long distance, these camps would be ideal for them. This initiative would help the tourist destinations such as Surajkund and Damdama regain their vigour. Haryana tourism has been organizing adventure activities for the last six-seven years such as para-sailing at Civil Aviation Club, Pinjore, Karnal and Narnaul, besides camping at Tikkar Taal near Morni hills in Panchkula. Similarly, river rafting, canoeing and kayaking were also arranged in Yamuna between the Ponta Sahib to Hanthikund and Kalesar in Yamunanagar district”.

The minister inaugurated Rajhans Convention Centre, only 8 km away from south Delhi, move to boost tourism activity in Surajkund.
