Brave shoppers had camping trip

Some brave shoppers have other plans while getting ready for Thanksgiving, they had already camping out in the cold, outside Best Buy. After thanksgiving it’s in anticipating of Black Friday and considered to be start of the holiday camping season. Three shoppers in Jefferson City planned and have already set up camping trip outside Best Buy in Missouri Boulevard.
Leann Helling, 36 year old who wore a purple said “We’re getting a lot of looks from people, laughing and some people waving. A lot of people come up and ask ‘Why are you here?’ And I don’t know. For me it’s not unusual. This is what I planned to do a year ago when I saw people camped out.”
Helling and Diana her daughter starting setting up their blue tent and lawn chairs on Wednesday, two days before Black Friday. Helling said “Trying to get a good deal in this economy. If you can save a buck you’re gonna do it.” Helling said the economy is a big factor in bringing her out. For her and Steve, the second man in line it comes down to a new computer. She hopes to save $500 on a new Athlon desktop which is usually the cost for around $1200 bucks.
Helling said “This isn’t my first time camped out. Last night she was too late. This year I determined to get that computer but only a good price and its enough for my budget.” The last time Helling bought a computer or desktop was 10 years ago, that was 1998. Diana, her daughter who sat in a lawn chair bundled in a hot pink jacket and yellow blanket said “she’s excited to have a new computer and will use it for school.”
She said “I’ve camped in Colorado at 20 degrees in the snow on a mountain. This is not that bad.”
Best Buy is open at 5 a.m. Friday.
