Camping Easy on Winter in Oregon and Washington with Yurts
In the summer, most of the camping trips are 1 nighters during weekend when campground are less crowded. During winter season how long have you spent in camping trips. Stacy Savona said it was a typical winter night on the Oregon Coast. Winds are gusting and the rain’s coming down, but she still remained high and dry in her yurt near Reedsport at William M. Tugman State Park.
Savona has comfortable to stay in one of the park’s yurts, the heavy canvas, circular tents that have been installed for rentals overnight at camping ground in state park in Oregon, Washington and beyond. Savona said “It’s kind of neat because you’re not really in a building and you get a different experience than being in the outdoors”. Savona, of Brooking, Ore., who also has stayed in the Oregon’s Valley yurt of the Rogue State Park. She said “probably the biggest reason people like to stay in them is that you don’t have to pack a tent and set up camp”.
Rate for Yurts in Oregon parks is $27 to $30 per night.
Physical structure of the yurt has fabric shell and rounded interior that also makes them appealing says Kemery.
Chris Havel, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation agrees of Kemery. He’s stayed in many yurts and describes the time inside as a “magical” at any time of the year.
Currently there are 190 yurts in Oregon parks around 170 on the coast. Chris Havel says over the past several years has scaled back on yurt acquisitions to catch up on building simple cabins at state campgrounds. Around roughly 60 cabins in Oregon Campgrounds, renting from about $35 per night.
Peter Dolan, customer service specialist at Pacific Yurts said “some people the they’re difficult… to get a reservation because of their popularity”. Pacific Yurts has made the structures since 1978.
