Camping Ground Improvements on Schedule

Dan Brown, a city’s Superintendent of Recreation told KIMT nEWS 3 you can start planning for camping trips in spring season in Mason City. The improvements to the MaCNider Campground are on Schedule.

All the underground work at the park is finished already, and crews are needs to put up a new storm shelter. Dan Brown said “a FEMA grant covered 3 to 4 of its cost. They want to finish the structure soon so they can work on the inside during winter. When it’s completed, the shelter will be much more than a place to take over”.

Storm shelter, but it will be the new bath house with showers and family changing rooms and laundry facility is added in there. Not everything is going as planned, but due to the rain some projects delayed to finish.

Brown explained “the road work and that type of thing, we’d hope to complete this fall. But with the weather the way it is, we’re not sure if we’re going to get the paving done this fall or next spring”.

Despite the delays, they’are schedule to open on April. Brown looking forward to seeing hundreds of families enjoy the improved camping ground next summer.
