Labor Day Camping Trip

A lot of people are spending their time in outdoor camping during Labor Day Weekend. It’s a family tradition that does not seem to lose popularity of the camping ground, in despite the state of the economy, said Wilmington camping managers.

Travis Snyder has been camping with his family. He said “It’s fun you get to the camp fires, the marshmallows, the mores, the swimming, the fishing and kayaking”. He loves camping with his family as long as he can remember.

Travis lives in Wilmington and didn’t have to travel far for his holiday retreat but his family took four hours to visit and spend their vacation together. He said that the most important thing is spending time with the family than doing nothing else. His family will be spending $500 in travel, camping fess, food and entertainment in their four day trip.

Snyder said that you still have a lot more than staying at hotel. You can’t put up a camp fire out front and do some smores, in camping trip can do.

Many people agree what Travis said and despite the sluggish economy, with almost 30,000 campers staying each year. The only difference is gas prices when travel, may be forcing vacationers to stay close to their home.

Danielle Akey, a Camp Manager said “We have seen an increase in the amount of locals that have come to stay with us within four hours radius, they’re not coming from as far.” Campers are staying in one site long trips instead of driving from campground to campground. To stay at the Wilmington Camp Ground it can cost $125 a night to stay in a lodge and $30/night for a tent site
